Who says getting eaten by a shark is a bad thing?
That Old Black Magic, Book 3
Willa Jameson is having one whopper of an identity crisis. Odd memory flashes that aren’t hers. A sultry voice in her head that’s obsessed with sex. Even weirder, she finds herself in the jaws of a rogue leviathan, dragged to the bottom of the ocean—and rescued by a hunky…shark?
The last thing Sheriff Max Truitt expects to find on his daily, deep-Atlantic patrol is a human—especially one who breathes underwater. Compelled to take her home, he waits for the beauty to wake up and reveal her name. Instead he’s treated to a punch in the nose, then a sexy romp hot enough to boil water.
The next morning, embarrassed by the sizzling, scandalous things the voice in her head drove her to do, Willa slips away. But if there’s one thing a determined shark excels at, it’s tracking his favorite meal.
Solving the mystery that is Willa is no simple task. When they finally unlock a dangerous secret hidden deep in her subconscious, it drives a wedge between them…and puts them in a desperate race against an evil that seeks to rain down a watery Armageddon on all mankind.
Warning: This book does not contain sex with a puffer fish. There’s not even sex with a seahorse. However, there’s plenty of smoking-hot lovin’ with a shark. And even a steamy M/F/M threesome. So slap on your snorkels and swim fins, things are about to get wet and wild.
While some series start to loose their luster and creativity after awhile, this series just keeps getting better and better! Jodi Redford knows how to deliver uniqueness, humor and delicious hotness in each one of her captivating books!
Witch, Willa Jameson, has just been pulled from the ocean by one fabulously yummy, alpha hero, Maxwell Truitt, who just happened to be on night patrol as sheriff when a sexy girl was in need of a knight in shining armor -- well, maybe I should say in sleek shark skin with wicked teeth? :)
Max has rescued one sexy woman who he knows is different, but despite her admission that she's a witch, her "other" characteristics (for instance breathing underwater while unconscience) just don't seem to add up ... especially when an inner voice starts encouraging her to seduce the sexy shark cop (not that she really wants to fight her desires). It's this buried, mysterious part of her that makes her a target of an ancient plot that puts her in both danger and tethered to the side of Max, who has taken over as her full-time protector -- and provider of hot lovin' distraction! :)
But, when Willa finds out just who and what she really is, her life will change course that tests the love between Max and herself.
The world-building in this series is captivating and continuously evolving which each consecutive book. Each book is unique in it's dynamics, conflicts, characters, and magical elements, while still maintaining a very consistent writing style, humor, great characters, and hot, sexy expectations! In Maximum Witch, the action and setting took place on both land (Georgia) and sea (Atlantic) which made for a refreshing change up in the urban fantasy world. Jodi also introduced a mythological aspect to the plot and setting that uped the fantasy aspect of the storyline.
I have yet to find a book that can pull off making a shark ultra sexy and as highly dimensional as Jodi created Max. In fact, Jodi has yet to demonstrate any poorly written character as far as I'm concerned. The characters are so full of life and depth that you can't help but feel like they live down the street from you. They laugh and cry and come with a fabulous sense of humor that will leave you laughing-out-loud! :)
The protagonists are created to compliment each other very nicely. I enjoyed the fact that it was Max trying to convince Willa that they were made for one another, as well as his fierce protection of her and his unwavering assistance in helping her to find out about herself and her hidden past -- even when it would mean sacrificing himself. *swoon* Yes, I admit, Max is my new book boyfriend. :) Willa was equally enjoyable character with spunk, strength and determination -- even if it did take a little extra persuasion from Max to fight her fears and occasional self doubt.
And speaking of Max taking care of Willa in all sorts of ways ... this story is sexy hot, meaning it's erotic, uses graphic language, and even throws in one hell of a sexy threesome. But is well written and dispersed throughout the story that doesn't seem overdone or over taking of the plot. Enjoy!
The paranormal aspects are absolutely captivating, fun, and make the story come to magical life! Like I previously mentioned, Jodi took the readers from adventure on land to adventure in the ocean off the coast of Georgia. These contrasting settings allowed for different magical and shifter dynamics that were refreshing to watch unfold. Jodi's writing style makes for an easy read that combines moments of lightness and a little edginess.
This is a series that I can't help but highly recommend to anyone who loves erotic paranormal romance with loads of humor, sexiness, adventure, magical fun, and an air of suspense. Jodi never fails at delivering a unique tale with ultra sexy romance and characters you want to call up to hang out -- and even fall in love with *g*. Readers who would like to jump in at any point during the series may do so without feeling as though they are missing something; with only minor story and character arcs that transfer over, but are always explained. It's one of my favorite series and I absolutely can not wait for the next installment of That Old Black Magic!!
