~*~Book Blurb~*~
After this much foreplay, something’s bound to combust.
That Old Black Magic, Book 2
As head mistress of Beaumont coven house, Clarissa Miles has perfected two things: keeping her sister witches from accidentally turning innocent bystanders into toads, and resisting the sexy overtures of her familiar, werewolf Logan Scott.
But her resolve is vanishing—fast. Seven years ago she sold her soul to save her father, and that contract is coming due. The allure of spending her last days indulging in some dirty, naked loving is too tempting to resist.
Logan has patiently ridden out the past seven years, content to do Clarissa’s bidding and ignoring his consuming need to mark her as his. Now that the ban on witch/familiar fraternizing has been lifted, he’s off the leash and ready to launch a full-on sensual assault on her defenses. They’re destined mates, and he’ll do whatever it takes to convince her.
It’s delightfully easy to get her in bed. Get at her heart? Not so much. Especially when a deadly predator stakes its claim on her…and Logan faces a battle not only to win her heart, but save her soul.
Product Warnings
This book contains a villain with more personalities than Sybil, a witch in search of redemption and a dirty-talking werewolf hell-bent on claiming his mate in every wicked, sexy way possible. Spontaneous howling may occur.Being that The Seven Year Witch is my second Jodi Redford title I've had the pleasure of reading, I think that I can confidently state that this is one author who knows how to write fun and creative plot lines, humorous dialogue and witty quips, dynamic characters with unique personalities, heart-tugging moments, and some seriously scorchin' hot sex scenes!
What would you do if you knew you had only seven years to live? What would you do with the final seven days of your life? Witch and head mistress of the Georgian coven, Clarissa Miles, is spending her impending passing by getting her affairs in order, trying to save others from her unfortunate fate, and trying -- without success -- to stop herself from handing her heart over to her sexy familiar, werewolf Logan Scott. However, knowing you only have seven days left to live before you relinquish your soul to evil, why not indulge in some hot, forbidden sex, right?
Logan is one alpha wolf who is determined to make Clarissa realize that his wolf has spotted his mate and he can no longer hold back the primal instincts to make her his. The only problem is, Clarissa lets no one in her heart; no matter how persistent, sexy, and fabulous they may be in bed. But, Logan doesn't understand the meaning of 'no', and he can clearly sense that Clarissa desires him for more than just a 'friend with benefits' as well. It's just a matter of getting her to break down the barriers to her heart. And when he finds Clarissa has bargained her soul, Logan is unwilling to let her relinquish it to evil without a fight. While Logan is sympathetic towards and understands Clarissa's need to safeguard her heart, he's determined to show her that he's not going anywhere, no matter how hard she tries to keep him at arms length.
Jodi Redford knows how to weave so many fantastical and heart felt elements in one place that it makes for a very well rounded read. The ease and flow of writing style allows for easy concentration on the development of characters and plot of the story. Beyond the scope of an adventurous and fun plot line lies a heart gripping story of a young woman forced to grow up fast in a childhood full of deceit, hurt, and betrayal, and leaves readers with a subtle message of what 'careful what you wish for' truly means.
The chemistry between the hero and heroine is completely believable and each undergo a change in character that left me swept up in the adventure and romance as they sought to overcome life-and-death obstacles that stood in their way of happiness. Beneath Logan's sex-crazed thinking lies a man full of love for one woman he can't imagine his life without. And beneath the "ice mistress" exterior of the head coven witch, lies a woman who wants nothing more than to fulfill her one desire that she's never had, or seemed capable of having: a family who loves her. And Dear Lord do these two know how to set the pages on fire!! Consider this your warning to bring an ice bucket! :)
The characters -- both primary and secondary -- are fabulously created, all with unique and life-like personalities, each more than capable of providing some comedic relief! :) But outside of the comedy, lies characters with sympathetic issues that will tug at the hearts of readers and leave them a little misty-eyed. And that is what makes Jodi's writing fantastic! You truly get a spectrum of emotion: from laugh-out-loud dialogue to heart felt moments, from villainous creatures to smokin' hot, fan worthy sex scenes. You'll simply get it all!
While The Seven Year Witch is book two of That Old Black Magic series, it can be read as a stand alone. However, I recommend that readers read book one to get a better sense of the overall atmosphere and the characters of the Georgia coven established at the beginning of the series.
Readers can expect a great adventure, funny dialogue and snarky quips, fantastic characters, some graphic and scorchin' hot sex scenes, and of course, more than a handful of moments that are sure to tug at your heart and make you swoon, all found between the covers of The Seven Year Witch! I thoroughly enjoyed this book and am definitely looking forward to the next installment of the series!
One of my LOL lines:
"Give me a sec to throw on some clothes."
"Sweeping his attention once again to Logan's groin, Kegan grunted. "Yeah, we don't need you taking out low-hanging power lines with that fuckin' thing."
One of my swoon worthy lines:
"You know it's true, Rissa. You're the queen of my everything. You have me. All of me. Heart, body and soul."

Sounds awesome- I'm adding it to my list. I actually think I may have the first book on my Kindle already. I'll have to look. :D
This sounds great. Since I'm kind of OCD about reading books in order, I just checked out the first book in the series and sent a sample to my Kindle. I'll definitely be buying it if I like the sample. I've found lots of great books and authors through Samhain and the prices are much better than the big publishers.
@Emily -- Definitely check out the first book then come back and share your thoughts with me!! It sets the stage nicely for most of the characters and the overall Coven. Thanks for stopping by! :)
@Jen M. -- Don't you absolutely LOVE the sample feature on Kindle!??? I actually have a love/hate relationship with that and the one-click buy button -- I spend waayyy too much money with those oh-so-convenient features! And, in my opinion, Samhain is GREAT!! The prices are always extremely reasonable and I think the company does a great job at editing and putting out great books! They've become a powerhouse publisher for me. I think I stalk them and Amazon equally! :)
Anyways, I hope you like Book one as much as I did! You'll have to come back and share your thoughts as well! :)
Hi Tanya!
Thank you so much for your awesome review. Once again, you've sold me on my own book. ;)
Logan and I are excited to stop in tomorrow and visit with you and the readers. But hey, didn't you mean to say he'll be "baring" a gift? LOL.
